What do you think about when you go to sleep? If you are like most of us, you probably review your day and plan what your next day will be like: What you are going to wear, what you have to do, people you need to call.
When you fall asleep, there is a gap for your soul to recharge and then (what feels like a minute later), boom, your alarm goes off and you're thrown back into reality.
This week, the alarming is ringing and it's time to start not only your day but to restart your life.
For weeks now, if you've been reading these Tune-Ups and participating in the holidays, you've been reviewing your life and planning the year to come. Now, it's time to start working your plan.
It's a little overwhelming, no? If you are like me, you have a long list of things you want to accomplish and change this year. All of those wishes are creating external pressure on you right now. Get in shape, change jobs, get better friends, be more considerate, stop feeling entitled, no more feeling sorry for yourself, be more responsible, and so on.
So how do we get started?
For an answer let’s turn to the words of the Zohar. In speaking of the moment we awaken in the morning, the Zohar recommends literally jumping out of bed “like a tiger” to seize the day with a burst of positive energy. This is not easy, as our natural inclination is to wallow in the narcosis of sleep, to hit the snooze button, and then begrudgingly get out of bed.
How we wake up affects our energy the whole day. It also affects how the Light deals with us during that day. If we keep hitting the snooze button, wanting five more minutes, then the Light will do that to us. We'll end up waiting five minutes for cabs, or for meetings, etc.
In addition to practicing “the tiger” method of waking up in the morning, use the consciousness of excitement throughout the day.
The power that can be brought in this week is enormous, but it's also going to be difficult. What’s happening is that we will be experiencing the huge gap between our desires (the things we planned for in our movie at Rosh Hashanah) versus what actually is. There is a big difference between making plans and manifesting them in the physical reality—the actual “living.”
We will get tested a lot. We will think we can't handle things. While we want to have it all, deep down we still might think it's not for us. Don't buy into it. We were meant to have it all.
I got this in the mail today and it was awesome. I thought I would share on my blog, cause the next one is gonna get deep.
What we need to do is eliminate the space between our desires and manifested reality by taking action.
Typically, because of our own inaction, worthy goals and daring dreams never materialize. We procrastinate. We lose our passion. Or we simply give up. Our best ideas remain unrealized hopes. Our thoughts never become actualized.
The spiritual work over the past few weeks was just that—spiritual. The real work now, takes place here in the material dimension. We need to follow through and “close the deal.”
The word for this week is DO! Now is the time to manifest new things—physical things.
So get to it. Jump into your life, and execute your plans—one step at a time.
